Bethlehem can reach its potential only when Palestinians are set free. This is why Open Bethlehem is currently campaigning for the UK Government to fulfil its pledge to recognise Palestine.
Recognition is an attainable goal, within the sovereign powers of the UK Government, independent of other states’ decisions.A decision by the UK Government to recognise Palestine alongside Israel may not make an immediate difference to the daily lives of Palestinians, but it will assert the justice of Palestinian demands and give Palestinians better access to international law and international institutions.
As part of our work we have recently met with MPs of all parties, officials at the Foreign Office, opinion formers and legal experts.
